About Langston
The Langston Co. is a global insights and strategy firm with a unique approach to consumer research. We call our research method “modular research” - and it’s built to make us more effective as researchers and strategists while giving our clients more power and knowledge about the entire field of consumer insights. Every person on our team plays a role in development, discovery, and refinement of this system. Our mission is to make consumer research more approachable and more powerful for brands around the world.
About The Role
We are looking for a Consumer Insights Analyst to join our team.
We welcome candidates to apply who have a great deal of enthusiasm, curiosity, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn. This role requires strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, and a high degree of personal responsibility and drive. If that describes you, keep reading!
This roll stretches across three areas:
1) Research Operations
Running a consumer insights research project from start to finish requires many moving parts. You’ll work with the rest of the Langston team to ensure projects are organized and running smoothly “behind the scenes.” You’ll learn how to program surveys, execute fielding, process data, and build research reports. Attention to detail and high personal standards for perfect work are critical for this part of the role.
2) Data Analysis
You’ll learn the ins and outs of many quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. You’ll spend a lot of time in Excel crunching numbers, running reports, building surveys, and analyzing data. If working in Excel and other data platforms doesn’t excite you, this role is probably not a great fit.
3) Strategy & Insights Communication
As research is coming together, you’ll think holistically about what it means and how insights can be leveraged to drive real business decisions and outcomes. This will require you to constantly toggle between “the trees” and “the forest,” balancing the realities of a client’s business with the potential impact of insights.
Equally important is how you communicate these insights, both on paper and in person. Langston leverages several mediums for building & communicating insights (e.g., PowerPoint, White Papers, and even video and audio). If creating story-telling narratives in PowerPoint does not excite you, this role is probably not a great fit.
This role will require occasional travel to team offsites, and may involve visits to client locations in some cases.
Your Experience and Qualifications
We firmly believe that there is much more to someone than their resume. While we believe the ideal candidate will come from a consumer insights background, we warmly welcome non-insights professionals who believe they would be a good fit for this role.
This position requires a high degree of proficiency in analyzing data in Microsoft Excel and reporting data in PowerPoint. Please do not apply for this role if you do not meet these two requirements
Minimum two years of professional experience preferred
Deep interest in human behavior, marketing, analytics, research, product development, and/or data infrastructure
Extremely high level of personal responsibility and willingness to take initiative to “get it done well” even when clear instructions are not available
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Design expertise a plus
Strong attention to detail, organization, and obsession with meeting deadlines
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to leverage numbers to tell a compelling story
Knowledge of STATA, R, or other statistical package is preferred but not required
Unending appetite to learn and grow
